I really like the look of catmint, but.... does it actually attract cats? Is it like catnip? My dog won't put up with that sort of thing so I need to know. TIA

Catmint is not as potent as catnip, but some cats do like to roll in it. If you have a territorial dog, maybe it would be better not to plant it!

Catmint is not as "intoxicating" to cats as catnip, but they do like it. My cat will roll around in the clump and nibble at the leaves every so often. The plant does not suffer from this and rebounds it's shape quickly. I doubt the plant would "attract" cats to your yard, but if they came across it they likely would be interested. Do you have a lot of cats roaming your neighbourhood?
Btw, catmint is a really good container plant. It is a very easy perennial, and a long bloomer. I find it quite attractive.

There are enough cats around. They all know the dog is here, but why cause potential trouble when I can use sage about the same color? I'll take catmint off my potentials list. Thank You! Thank You!

The neighborhood cats never touch or roll around on my many clumps of Nepeta which is called catmint.

I'd still rather not take the chance. This dog is hyper enough on a quiet day. For my own peace of mind and harmony with the neighbors I'll pass on the catmint. Thanks for the responses. I do appreciate it a bunch. Thank You!
