I have made another adjustment and would be curious to know if things have changed.

I was just on Plant Id forum, and post #1145379 ( a single photo) refused to load. I did see, however that another reply was made while I was waiting. Could that make a difference?

No, that wouldn't make a difference.

I'm grateful for your continuing to test this with me. I know it's a hassle and a frustration, and I'm definitely trying to figure it out.

I'm sure it's more frustration for you than for me.

I haven't had any problems today and I loaded some photos to the butterfly thread, plus I "flipped" through a bunch of pictures on both the butterfly and bird thread. Also, the recently added pictures on the main page all opened right up for me. I'll be sure to let you know if things slow down again on my end.

@Dave - busy here , I have workers in my house and could can't get online at all times.

I fired up the mac and the post and image I linked above took me a count of 20 to open just now with Safari, and 16 to open with Chrome.

And I saw that I made a mistake - that photo I posted the link to above was from the Plant ID forum - when I said it was in the new database images.

however, just now when I went into the birds/bees forum and opened random images posted this month, they all opened in 2-3 seconds. Same for the images in the thread I checked in a long thread in the perennial forum "color echoes" that I have never looked at before, so I know no photos there were opened by me before.

I wonder why some load fast, others slow? I tried to be sure I was picking images from random people, different orientations etc.

Shrug!

I've got a busy morning today, so can't spend the time checking. In regards to Juli's comments in the last post. I was also checking forums with lots of photos by different people also. The difference is that sometimes a photo that won't enlarge for me the first time may open if I go back later. Shrug!

Yep, its better, but still hit and miss. Multitasking helps the time pass.

Okay, it just happened to me. I was trying to view the first picture in this post: http://garden.org/thread/view_...

It would not open. I tried opening the second pic and it opened right away. I tried four or five more times and couldn't get the first one to open. I then tried hitting the "refresh" button on Chrome, and then the first picture opened right up. Don't know if this is helpful, but I wanted to let you know.

Melanie, I clicked on your link and was able to open them both quickly. Weird, huh?

Vicki, it seems to be happening very randomly. I've tried some of the posts other users have mentioned in this thread with no problem. So it's pretty aggravating to try and pin down what the problem is. I'm glad I'm not Dave! Shrug!

I only had one that was slow today...and not that slow, but I haven't been on the PC all day either. Maybe my mouse was over heating before. Hilarious!

Just had it happen on this post: http://garden.org/thread/view_... Couldn't open the first picture so I clicked out of it. The second one came up fine, then I hit the back arrow and the first pic opened right up.

Sounds like we have an eccentricity here. Even electronics have quirks.

I had the same experience as Melanie just a few minutes ago. starting with post http://garden.org/thread/view_... and several more past that, some single and some multiple photos. First time wouldn't open, returning to them several minutes later, they popped right up. These were on Plant Id forum.

I took me about six tries to open the first photo in this post. http://garden.org/thread/view_...

The other two opened just fine. I had just looked at pictures on a different post and they were fine. I opened the second, then tried the first again and it still wouldn't open. Hit refresh, still wouldn't open. I don't know what the magic trick was that finally opened it. Shrug!

I don't have a clue why this is happening.
