So yesterday I was given this plant by a friend. She calls it "Giraffe's Knees" and I did find it in the database. Is this an Aroid?

It has a flower as you can see in the photo, and it sure does look like an Aroid flower. But the leaves don't look like any Aroid I've seen. Cool looking mottled stem, with (indeed ! ) a sort of knee in it halfway up.

Hurray! for "no stink" Hurray! This one is about 3ft. tall. Can I expect it to get bigger? Do you know if it pups?

How about light? Will it take some sun or should I keep it in a pot under the oak trees?

It does get pups. I hesitate to give growing advice. Mine got progressively smaller for three years until...poof. I think MJ grows it, @mjsponies.

Elaine mine is sending up a bloom now I think. It went dormant this winter. It got about 5 ft.tall but they can get much taller. The one at EFG Orchids was at least 7-8 ft. tall.
I have mine in dappled sun/shade and doesn't like to dry out. I think mine could have used a bit more sun last year as it seemed kinda leggy to me.

I was thinking I might put mine in the ground. I've got A. bulbifer in the ground and does just fine also.

I was just talking to the friend that gave me the plant. She says she's finding seedlings of it in other pots besides the one her plant is in.

Hmm. I'll have to keep an eye on it.
