It can sort of be "brainish". Thanks for the location update, Jeff.

That looks like a good formula. Coming from Florida Colors, I imagine it has the microelements that are necessary. I would think (though I can only ready the large lettering because of focus problems) that it is equally good for orchids and other epiphytic plants. However, it don't know whether this is a slow release or a water-soluble fertilizer.

Hi Jeff, I ordered some Excalibur also. Got it last week. Hurried out to put it on my rooted plumeria. It looks like a really good formula and Hetty says she uses it. I went a bit crazy and put it on a few other things too!

Ken, I tried to take a close up pic of the small print on the label, but it was not clear. They have both a 9 month and 6 month version. Looks like it has everything a plumeria could want...all of those micronutrients...yum!

OK, at least I know it is a slow release. I imagine the 9 mo. would be better suited for those in zones 9-11 and the 6 mo. for the rest of us in the nothing-tropical-like zones.

Yes this is the six month slow release..I went with this since it is now almost June...I will most likely experiment with other plants also and go ahead and order the 9 month this winter..Ken what fertilizer do you use for your Orchids? I tried for a second photo of the ingredients but it's not good...Honey oh honey I need a good Camera (says me to my wife )....

Jeff, I actually use four orchid formulations but those are usually used during the fall and winter months when everything is inside. During the spring and summer months I will use 20-20-20 Miracle Grow in an applicator that dissolves the powder and dilutes it as it sprays. Every third feeding will be a blooming fertilizer, something like Peter's. Orchid fertilizers by and large are simply too expensive to use in that spray applicator.

Keep in mind, when I water and when I fertilize, I am doing so not only with orchids but bromeliads, tillandsia, staghorns, ficus, plumeria, ginger, and whatever else I have potted up at the time. Even though I use Osmocote, I still supplement that with water-soluble fertilizations.

Thank you Ken !! I can imagine with so many plants simply watering /fertilizing would be a major task...

Not really a task, just something I do on a regular basis. A task is washing windows. Whistling

I agree with Ken, it's not a task if you enjoy doing it and the rewards can be great.

As far as the Pea gravel, I too have used it to help absorb heat as well as keep my pots weighted as plumies can be very top heavy. One thing I have heard (not yet experienced) is that you don't want the pea gravel resting on the trunk as it can actually get too hot and burn it. Best to pull gravel away from the trunk just enough not to touch.

Good luck with your Plumeria Moe!

I am extending my walkway, going from the patio to the greenhouses. I am using pavers that weigh 25-35 lbs., depending on size. Before placing the pavers, and then mortaring them in place, I had to dig out the sod and level the area. Now that's what I consider to be a chore. My back seems to be handling all this so far. I just get stiff bending over/squatting so much.

Slow and easy wins the race Ken !! I have been painting since yesterday morning.I have a fence towards the back of my property I have dedicated as Plumeria alley...Roughly 4 gallons of paint and I'm estimating another 2 and I will have a nice clean looking white fence as a backdrop for Plumeria....4 gallons of drinking water also !!

I know what you mean. I just came inside after watering all my plants and a couple of glasses of ice water later, I am ready to head outside again. I think it is around 90F, with 85% relative humidity. Not quite breath-taking (literally), but getting there.

I know your "Plumeria Ally" will really shine with that white fencing, Jeff.
