Yeah, once I wrote two pages about how to open a Ziploc baggie.

Typically I can bang out 5 pages of text faster than I can edit two pages down to one page.

BTW, decades ago a friend called the problem of FINDING information "The Librarians' Dilemma". You can fairly easily fill warehouse after warehouse with books ... but FINDING the information you want, or even a few related books, can be very hard.

The Internet is nice, but Google search is great.

And now, with Google and the vast amounts of information out there in the "web," the dilemma is to sort out the good information from the bad. Rolling my eyes.

True!

Finding things online is easy compared to extracting the truth from the urban myths, commercial motivations, political bias and plain old stubborn wrong-headedness.

When I tried to find "Internet documentation" for my opinions about crop genetic engineering, and climate change, I was shocked at how much both sides slant their websites.

When there's money on the table, truth flies out the window.

Ditto for political ideology - "truth in politics" sometimes seems like a contradiction in terms.

The idea that "highly motivated people are willing to lie" didn't come as a shock, but I WAS surprised to see how lame and obvious propaganda can be, and yet apparently satisfy the desire of the zealots to "do research".

RickM said: I selected and copied the resulting page and pulled it into Word and deleted the Status, Notes and Events columns
Sort the table on the remaining 'Plant' column
Convert the table to text

What you have left is your plant list, including the hyperlinks into the plant database. I got rid of those by copying the list into a plain text editor and then back into Word. The list remains, but without the links.

Since my labels will hold 3 lines of text at 9pt, I
converted the line breaks to page breaks
converted the left paren to a line break
converted the right paren to nothing

I'm left with a file that contains all of my plants formatted so each will print on a separate label.Thumb of 2016-05-12/RickM/208558

*Blush* I'm old and technically challenged so I didn't understand a word of that Green Grin! ... but it sure looks good!

Lin, I'm working on a 'plain English' version. It will be somewhat lengthy, but I'm describing every step. I'm hoping to include some screen shots as well.

RickM, Thank You!

I'm "older", lazy and a bit technically challenge ... and did I mention lazy? Rolling on the floor laughing
I often get frustrated with technology like my camera and my smart phone, which is way too smart for me. Sighing!
I'll look forward to your tutorial!

Lin -- Hilarious!

RickM -- A tutorial for making labels using a plant list would be great; perhaps Dave could put a link to it (when the time comes) in the info box on the "seed swaps" page. Thumbs up
