The Unwins are really looking good! They are mostly 15-18"tall and are providing pops of color everywhere. Will plant again next year. They make great border plants for all of the taller and leggier plants I have, Lots of phlox and dahlias this year I really like both.
I will have to wait until I dig tubers this year, but the anemone types have really been beautiful. I know one is Purple Gem but there is also a really nice clear true pink one that really grabs my attention when I walk by.

I like the collerettes for the same reason, although this year they were in a bed by themselves along the south side of a low deck. None were over 18" tall. Some more robust than others. I looked up Purple Gem and it is indeed an eye catcher.

Arlene, I have tried several times to grow Hakonea grass here but we are too cold I guess. A close looking one is Foxtail grass (I think that is what Mike called it). Variegated color and that nice draping look, or in its case, it rather flops. I think yours stays in a nice plumped up draping look. Really nice look in a garden.

Harvest Day at the botanical garden held in our research plot to engender interest in some of our trial plants and activity of local master gardeners and the cooperative extension people. We have two rows of peonies and they want me to 'man' a table with information about growing peonies up here. Not a problem. Could talk all day about them. Or dahlias. I am going to cut a bunch of my dahlias and lots of bloom heads from my Little Lamb Hydrangea to decorate the table. Can't have peonies obviously but I have lots of pictures. Supposed to rain but that never stops us up here. Rained during the Wine in the Woods event and people just brought umbrellas and rain coats or nothing special at all. lol. Lots of fun.

Those are all beautiful blooms, Arlene! I'm jealous that your AC Paint looks like it's suppose to while mine is a "wild child" again this year. lol

Bag from HD marked "dinner plate".

I didn't expect them to be as large as they are.

11.5 inches.

It's kind of weird, all the other dahlias I planted are almost perfectly symmetrical but this one is pretty wild and all over the place.

Need has nothing to do with it.
I think Geof is right, Emory Paul. AA size which is classified as over 10" blooms. plant should be about 4 feet. But we all know how that can vary. And Emory Paul is a little wild and wooly. I like it!

The Caribbean Dahlias are here St. Thomas USVI. I was very much amazed on how beautiful the Dahlias has grown in the Islands. About 24 inches some of the Dahlias blossoms. I love how they grow. I wish everyone healthy Dahlias to brighten your day with its blooms of beauty.

My Dahlias are blooming nicely. The yellows are vibrant. Once they have been nurtured and love. Their blooms are worth the growth. They are so lovely to watch and share with the bees and the birds. I love growing Dahlia Flowers.
