I found this growing on my property today. My first thought was penstemon, but I'm not so sure now. I almost missed it, thanks to it growing in some really tall grass. I'm positive that I did not plant this, and I can't find another one anywhere else. It's about a foot tall, and I live in North Central Idaho, if that helps any.

Any suggestions would be appreciated! I can't find a picture of any penstemon with this color, so I'm really not sure what it is.

The plant was practically smothered in the grass! I pulled the grass around it so that I could get a better look and some pictures.

I'm not familiar with your region but I'd say no to Penstemon. Try researching some local wildflowers.

Wow!! Thanks so much Leslieray!! That is exactly what it is! My dad sent me some seeds for it, and I never planted any, so this one came up all on its own. Maybe the previous owner tossed some seeds there at some point, because it sure wasn't me!
