Very nice tree I just planted one myself , your picture answered my question I was about to ask since I see the tips of the leaves on yours are also a blush color here.. So i guess my tree is happy with the soil I planted it in.. I also put some Mulch around it as well as landscaping bricks since it does sit on a hill ( but the soil had been burned due to a fire) to keep the water where I want it so it don't run off. With regards to the red mulch I used.. I made a sort of trench.. keeping the mulch away from the trunk itself. Did you stake your tree here? I did with mine due to wind and used a rabbit Gaurd. Apperently my tree is quite happy where I have it as it has leaves all over on it, I was told it was due to the soil I planted it in.. Nutrient rich. I sure hope it does well Love maple trees!
