They have made so many crosses lately. It is sometimes hard to see the small differences. I just saw a pic of a Thanksgiving the was all bright red. The stamens where not as obvious. I am not sure if I would like that.. I like the contrast. I started with 3 kinds and just keep rooting them. Mine are back in the house to hot and dry outside. They were looking thin again. At least not droopy. I will have to find an area away for the AC vent with light.
I really want to learn the difference in the types and colors. I like the bright colors not the pale pastels. Hope when It cools I can get more.

Just moved her to a cooler room a couple of weeks ago, got a few little eyeballs emergin now so thats a good sign! I wasn't sure if it would flower this winter cause it only grew one new leaf the entire year, is that common?

I could be mistaken, but that looks like a new leaf to me.

It shows new growth but moving it to a cooler room can force blooming also. You will know in a few days the leaves will flatten.

I transplanted all my starts there were so many. I started with 3- 4" stems. I can't wait to see them bloom. I want a red and white Christmas.
I will next have to get a few branches of the Spring orange daisy like, but not sure of the name. Maybe even a fusha color for Thanksgiving. Soaking the leaves in root hormone seemed to really help root them fast before planting. Soaked for 10 mins

Cool, do you use powder or gel marica? I have organic rooting gel but it smells awful.

sy I use Dyna gro products for my Adeniums KLN is their root hormone. It takes so little to use. It is like 1/4tsp per gallon. I would think any root hormone would work. I use to use root tone. I have never had a problem with the smell.
I also root just two sections not a whole stem.

I will have to try it! I've only took cuttings from mine twice, for neighbours and both where only two sections long, they both rooted ok w/o hormones.

Q: If I make a few surface cuts on a leaf while its still on the plant and left it to callous would it make a few roots and speed things up for when Im ready to take it off?

Sy your question is a good one - you should try it and see if it works - let us know!
Another thing I keep reminding people about these plants is they bloom better when pot bound - so plant several in the same pot! I made a big mistake transplanting a very old plant into a pot 3 sizes larger than what it had been in, and it took me years to get another bloom from it!
I tip my hat to you.

I have just put my cuttings in a 10" pot. There is probably 5 well rooted and 15 little sprouts that just rooted. Will that be to much. The well rooted have many multiply sprouts on the leaves. The new little guys have new nubs. I think I can leave them the way they are and as it grows split the plant. do you think this would work.

Yes these want to be very pot bound, so putting as many as possible together is good! Thumbs up

Hmm, that does look rather round, so I can see why that looks like a bud. What does it look like today, any progress one way or the other? Big Grin

Mixed results georgia! Some look more leaf like but others remind me of when it started budding last year... not as early tho, I think it was mid november last year when I noticed it budding! I do recall asking myself why my new growth had a red tinge in it and a little red dot in the center, after awhile they turned out to be buds so I assumed that I could use that as a sign for future budding. Anyway some pics took today, their still very small so its hard to get a proper focus, either way I'm happy its active!

I was mistaken, those do look like buds to me! Hurray! I've seen tiny leaves before (about that size) and they weren't as "bulbous" looking at those look. I may be a little jealous of your TC budding already, I'm currently waiting for the weather here to cool down enough to see if mine buds/blooms (it was a gift from a friend, so the flower color will be a surprise!). *Blush*

They really like to bloom in a "cooler room" and the sun is setting earlier now. Yours just did it early this time. Show us when it blooms.

Lol georgia I could still mess it up in the next few months! I did move it to the cooler room to force bloom but I have no experience in this so its trial and error! Seems ok so far.
I will definitely post some bloom pics marica... Fingers crossed
