Mine is at my folks' for the Summer, but I think I'll grab it in the next few weeks so when it comes to moving it inside, it won't have to go far (I don't want the buds to fall off, Grumbling ).

Looks great!!
Sy I usually water a bit more sorting this bloom time, I always water with warm water. Four years friends told me of this trick but coming from MI I said "they get cold water when it rains so why should I use warm water?" Then I traveled to the tropics lol the rain is very warm there nodding Shrug! now I water all my tropicals with warm water I tip my hat to you.

Ok greg I could try that! Yea I've heard alot of plants can grow faster with warm water. I normally take water from the top of the fishtank (room temperature) the water comes from a natural spring in a nearby forest and all my plants get watered with it, they seem to like it!
What medium do u'se use? I could improve mine I think! Most of my plants are in coco coir and perlite.

our town has it's own Damn so it does not have a lot of things added to it like the city water. Water does stay cold. I think I will try the warm water idea. I get good growth may there will be more. Thanks

Worth a try marica!
I've been pondering over how cool it would be to have a TC cutting fixed somehow to my yucca gigantea (not grafted) my yucca has been sawn near the top so its nice and flat between 3 new stem growths I think a little fixed pot or something not quite noticable. trying to picture how it would look with some blooms trailing down the main stem. Wonder has anyone tried that before? I'm very interested in trying.

Don't know if it would be viable but I'm willing to try and if it doesn't work out I can always seperate them again.

Sy. doesn't like it on the dry side? When the TC like it slightly moist and also root bound. You may have to mist the TC a little more to compensate. Should look nice when fully filled in and blooming under the Yucca. Worth a try

Sy I like your idea because it would look 'jungleish' but I don't think either plant would be thrilled with the situation Hilarious!
The medium I use is regular potting soil (I think you call it compost there) mixed with pumice (from vulcanos, not perlite, which is so light it rises to the top of the pot) then I add some sand but not much.
My plants were given to me ages ago and I've managed to keep them alive - they do ok for me, but I mostly treat them like house plants. Except I move them inside in the winter once our rains begin, some time soon now I think.
Within a few weeks of being brought back indoors, they usually bloom. I don't know what type of plants I have, but they almost always bloom around Thanksgiving rather than Christmas, I just assume I have Christmas cactus. nodding

Early bloom could just be from change in light and temp when you bring it in.

Yea marica i keep mine on the dry side but being tropical they can deal with moderate humidity, they don't need misting like dracaena but i occasionally do! I've decide I'm goin to keep the tc cutting in its own pot so the yucca wouldn't be effected too much I've took a pic of where it would be placed!

Yea greg Im not fond of perlite either for that exact reason! I might try adding some compost and sharp sand come spring and do away with the perlite.

Hi If.you keep your cacti outside rain water has a different PH water. Inside water comes from pipes! The environment can change the color, too. Try experimenting with where your putting the cacti. Good luck.

I wouldn't expect to find any buds until a couple/few weeks after the equinox. (Nights longer than days and temps below 85 are what causes the buds to form.)

Now is the time to level-off any tips with tiny pads at the tips, and put in a spot where there are no lights on when it's dark outside (or cover with a box during those hours.)

Hi Normally your right! I live in the Pacific Northwest and the rainy season is starting early! We are dark and raining for two days now. I live on a hillside 500 ft above sea level. Nights in 45 degrees. It confuses some of my cacti I agree

Starting to see some progress now, there's a bud forming on every tip! Oh that's good tiffany I have a few small leaves with tiny bud growths I would have left them on it but I'll get them off some time today.

Leave the gun, take the cannoli. No wait, that's not right. Leave the buds, take the tiny leaf pads. So sorry if I said something confusing. No reason I would ever remove flower buds. But if some branches end in a tiny new leaf, that branch may not get buds unless the tiny leaf is removed just before/as buds are forming. Referred to as leveling.
