I am used to seeing earthworms, no problem. Slugs and less wonderful. Snails are okay.

Yesterday we had a super heavy rain event and this morning I found a totally new (to me) type of worm. My brain could only think maybe it's a leech?. My camera was not available so I looked it up online. It is a Hammerhead Flatworm but I'm not sure which one.

Reading the description on this link I am leaning toward B. kewense:

Creepy looking worm that eats worms. Double ick.

Yep, definitely icky. I purposely did not post a link of the video showing the flatworm in dining mode. Eeeeew.

From that link, it's not only gross but also invasive.. if you see one again, respond with "extreme prejudice."

"copious amounts of slime" also caught my attention in the description you found. Blinking

I am keeping the flatworm "in captivity" for now. I gave it one earthworm to see if it was hungry. Earlier today I talked with my neighbor who home schools his two sons. They will be happy to accept the flatworm temporarily for educational purposes.
