Thread OP

My neighbor sold his house and a developer is going to flatten all the plantings within the next day. He invited me and other neighbors to take what we could before the machinery came in. I found a large patch of this growing in complete shade along with some hasta and lilly of the valley. It has really nice "string of bells" flowers that complement the lilly of the valley nicely. The stems are up to three feet long.

Any ID and recommended growing conditions much appreciated.

It's Solomon's Seal, Polygonatum x hybridum is the usual one but there are others.

They like to grown in shade, I have one in a raised bed around a large horse chestnut tree with a lot of leafy compost. They take a long time to establish, once mine got going well it was eaten by Solomons-seal Sawfly larvae! I saw it had one weak stem in flower today, oh well.

Awesome that the developer gave folks a chance to save some of the plants too.
