Would it be one that is in our data base but just a different name?

I am glad to see this thread. This is one that i am pretty sure Julia got from me and i have been looking all over the data base and the German sites for it because it is another name that seems a bit off. I love the semp and i think it should be pittoni x mantanum too. I have not been able to find any reference anywhere. It's probably in Sedumphotos.net. I havn't looked there yet but that is not going to help much. Perhaps if we are all looking for it we will find something. I am in the process of verifying the name of every Semp that I have and there are some others with Questionable names too. One at a time.

Yes, Jo Ann it is a very big task. Most of us have been working on it for several years. Hopefully we will find something on it.

Thank you for looking into this one Jo Ann.

@JungleShadows Kevin does Julia's new semp look like a cross between pittonii and montanum?

To me it looks like pittonii in slightly different green (that could either originate from growing conditions or lighting conditions on the photo (Lynn your photo seems to be taken on a sunny day or with flashlight, while Jo Ann's day was more cloudy). I can't see traits of montana in Jo Ann's plant.

Michael the color of "pittonii montanum" in this picture is the true color. I have had this one for some time and the color never changes even in the winter. I have never seen the spesies but it seems very green in the picture here...not the same color. It seems that montanum is green too so where did the blue come from if this is a cross??? It certainly gets its shape from pittonii. And the mystery continues. I spent a couple of hours searching last evening to no avail. I wonder if there are any records anywhere from the nursery that Kevin told us about where they tried to straighten out the names mess. I have forgotten the name of that nursery at the moment and don't have time right now to go back through reams of thresds. Have to go plant more potatoes !!! I tip my hat to you.
Thank You!

Jo Ann that would be Fernwood in England.
North Hills Nursery had quite a few that were incorrect. When Martha bought the business she inherited a number of misnamed semps. She was working very hard at straightening it out. I was so sad to hear she closed the nursery. She was such a great person to do business with. She is missed.

I have spent a LOT of time on Fernwood's site since they hold the national colection I was hoping to find out something about a grandiflora from Keston which i saw mentioned in a 1916 garden magazine from England.
I was refering to North Hills as i was wondering if it is possible that "pittoni montanum" came from there already with a wrong name. I suppose it could be pittoni x montanum but that does not explaine it's much bluer color than either if the species. I'm considering joining the Scottish Rock Garden Society so i can get into their Sempervivum records . Or i could just let it go and call it a NOID but it is a consistantly good grower and just a very nice little semp. I hope it will flower at the same time as something reasonable to x with it.
Just curious ...how long ago did North Hills close?

A few years ago.
I would love to see what the blooms look like. That might be helpful.

This is where NOIDS go (there it is in the right corner and it looks suspiciously like it is pushing up a flower stem) We may see a bloom. This pic is being cropped from the original so it is barely in the picture.
