I'm going to be 65, celebrate!!! Take perserverance to be old. I'm a stubborn old mule woman.

All you ladies who liked my collage (Thank you!), I hope you'll do the same and show it to the world.

A collage would take too long -- those photos are only print.

But here's what I looked like while stationed in Belgium in 1988, and on Christmas 2003. (the handsome gentleman in the photo with me is my daddy)





I make it a point to always be behind the camera

The Christmas pic was taken less than 10 days after Mom's funeral. I took pics of every family member standing with Dad like that, and made him a calendar on shutterfly where each page of the calendar was one of those pics. He left it hanging long after it was out of date. Gawd, I miss that man.



edit to add: Oh, and remember how I said y'all make me feel young? I'll be 51 this Dec.

fiwit -- fee-wit. It's easy to say. (Sharon has special dispensation) It's actually an acronym for a mantra I used when I was going through therapy years ago. You can make up your own meaning for the "f", but the entire phrase was "eff it, whatever it takes." It was a shortened version of a friend's mantra - "eff it, just do whatever it takes to get well."


Actually, I don't have the calendar. My sister claimed it when we were cleaning out Dad's house. She's the only one of us with kids, so most of the pictures had her family in it, in one form or another. I think she gave the pics with my siblings to each of them, but I could be wrong. It's been 3 years ago now, and I really wasn't paying much attention at the time.

But I have the originals, and the calendar itself will live forever on shutterfly.com, if I wanted to reprint it.

I also made magnets for each sibling, way back when. Each of us got one large magnet of our picture with Dad, and we may have gotten a magnet with the whole family as well. I don't remember. Shutterfly has been my go-to place for things like that ever since I went digital in 2002.

Mary, great ideas. Grandparents, parents, two of three siblings, a niece and a nephew are all dead and their photos are more precious every day.

Lady in the red shirt is a DGer I met in June when she came to Texas visiting relatives. (Don't have her permission to show her face) That's me, though, clothed in all my 54 years. Trying to find one from 1987. Just don't have many ohotos of myself at all. Like Mary, I try to stay BEHIND the camera.

Well when I turned 55 I received for a total of 55 cards silly gifts balloon, TP, paper kleenex, you get the idea...and then a big one on the real date. Now I have started this for special friends, it is alot of work but oh so much fun

Jamie, you have a lot of great pics. Thanks muchly for sharing them. Looks like life was fun. You're happy in all those pictures. Look at my examples. They're mostly from some ID card or other, so they all look like mug shots.

Ha! Nancy! "mug shots". Happiness? ....well that's a choice, no? Sometimes only laughter hides the bruises. Don't cha' just LOVE the picture of my friends though??? The women all worked with me and so our families become friends, their kids feel like my own (and grandchildren now) even though we've all moved about and we're lots older, we still email nearly every day.
