Thread OP

Found near a beach in Florida Keys. Searched drift seeds info but couldn't find it. Now it is starting to grow at top. Should I plant it? Any ideas?

Neat find and I would plant it in a nice size pot to be able to keep a close watch on the progress. Whatever it is, it must be pretty hardy to survive being in saltwater.

Good luck,
Thomas

My guess a palm seed of some sort. Many palms try to spread their seed by using ocean currents. Gene

Looks like Dioscorea bulbifera. (Invasive, air potato.)

I agree with Tiffany, looks like Air Potato (Dioscorea bulbifera) a very invasive vine! It's listed as a Category 1 Non-Native Invasive here in Florida. You can see more photos of the leaves, bulb/potato on these pages:

I agree it looks like the Air Potato. I had one growing in a pot...it escaped and invaded the Four O'Clock bed...it reached out and climbed the Sycamore tree (do you know how tall the Sycamore grows?)...and out of spite, the Air Potato dropped a huge "potato" on my head.
Ouch! Thumbs down Not only are these plants thugs, but they are inconsiderate of unsuspecting humans. Rolling on the floor laughing
