I was so happy to find this rooted cutting at a local nursery! It is a NOID, just labeled as an orchid cactus, spring blooming. Further description says large colorful blooms stay open all day. How long should I leave it in this small pot?

Sondra -that looks like a healthy plant in a 6 inch pot and I'm assuming you purchased it in that pot so its probably been in that a pot a while. If it were mine I would repot it to an 8 inch hanging pot knowing that it will stay in that 8 inch pot for four to five years.

Thank you for the advice. I will transplant into a hanging pot soon. It's good to know that it can then stay there for a few years. I will look forward to a bloom. I've had an Oxypetalum for 4 years now and haven't gotten a bloom yet, so I hope this one is more prolific.

They seem to bloom best when crowded.

All the years I've grown Epis I always heard they bloom best when crowded and yet for some stubborn reason I do one per pot.
I have a bunch of cuttings ready to pot on to the 8 inch hanging pots and with space at a premium I'm going to put three to a pot just to see what happens. One problem will be the weight as they get bigger but cannot help. Smiling

What a great find. I don't usually find them in nurseries here. Good luck with it. I hope you get many blooms.
