Several years ago a friend gave me several different daylily plants. They have always been great performers in my gardens and I have always wondered about their names. Today I came across a picture of South Seas and I really think that this may be what some of them are. When I compare database pictures side by side to these, I think the colors are right on. As for height and flower width, I will have to wait till mid July to determine that.

It looks very similar to the pics in the data base. I think it certainly could be South Seas.

Well, if it's not SS, it's a really close twin! If your height and bloom size match the AHS, and your scapes are well-branched, sturdy, and above the foliage, I'd say you've got SS.

Here's a picture of my SS in 2011.

and here's a picture of it in 2014.

It is one of my favorite daylilies and one that I think will always have a spot in my garden! Everything about it is right in my wheelhouse Smiling

Thank you all for your feedback!

I was able to go back through my pictures and it looks like the scapes are mostly 2 branches, maybe one had 3 way branching. It looked like each branch had about 6 flowers. Neither of these are addressed in the data base here.

I feel pretty confident that this is South Seas. Will definitely get out and measure it this summer. I did some major garden renovations last fall and weeded out all of the cone flowers, black eyed susans and other stuff that was invading the garden and trying to squish out the day lilies, so I should be able to get a good idea this year on size, etc.,
