My potato plants have been looking great since February. Last week I noticed several turning yellow and I thought it may be from a lack of water. But now it has spread and most of them are yellow and or dying. I think it may be bugs? Underneath the plants I saw some ants and some tiny roundish black bugs about the size of a pinhead. Maybe I have more than one thing going on here? Can someone tell me what is wrong? Thank you

Hi Terri -- I suspect that the tiny black bugs that you've seen are flea beetles; but they don't ordinarily seem to do any significant damage to healthy plants. Maybe some sort of blight or wilt ?

Perhaps @Farmerdill will be able to shed some light on the problem!

Maybe it is just time for them to die off.
Been growing for 3 months. Good chance they are just normally dieing off.

Concur with Bluepoppy. Growing since February, they should be maturing. Mine are going down fast. Digging for new potatoes and they are almost full size.

Thanks so much! I would be thrilled to dig them up and free up the space for new plantings. I'm thinking peppers?

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend, Terri
