I was one of the first 300 contributors to the plant database!
This is my 1st post, so please be patient with me. I'll try and post a pic of my plant.

The plant was about an inch in diameter, when the electric power co-op guys cut it down (it is growing in under a power line) Since being cut in the spring, it has grown around 6ft! Even with the heat & drought! It doesn't matter how much water or how little it gets or what the temp is- this thing just grows like crazy! I've tried to get cuttings to grow, but haven't had any success. I would love to move it, but I'm afraid I would kill the plant. If anyone has any idea what it is, please give me your thoughts.

I moved the thread to the Plant ID forum for her. Smiling

Cindy, I'm glad you made it to the site! I hope someone here can identify your plant for you!

My first thought was that it reminded me of Tecomaria capensis (Cape Honeysuckle) but after looking at my own photo's I don't think it's that one. It is so familiar though. I will keep thinking but hopefully someone will come along and recognize it and be able to give you an exact ID.

And, yes ... Welcome to All Things Plants!

hmm ... how about Tecoma stans (Yellow Bells):

Good eye Jay! I am so bad at trying to compare photo's, I was way off and would have never thought of Melia! I see that Cindy has added her photo to the database:

We had one when I was little. Lots of wars with my brothers, pelting each other with berries.

This tree has never produced berries. If so, I would probably have recognized it (we had one when I was a child and I too pelted my cousins with those berries! After Googling the plant name, I see that it is not a very popular plant, but for me, I like it just fine!

We have a huge chinaberry...I love it...pretty flowers and makes great shade in summer. When I make Christmas wreaths I spray the berries silver and gold to add to the wreath.
Each cloud has a silver lineing if only you look for it.
