My gardener misunderstood my instructions and trimmed the entire top off my 12 year tanyosho old pine. This leaves just old wood. Will this come back at all? Quite devasting really. Thank you, Malcolm Heaven

It's hard to tell the actual size and shape of the pine from the photo.

Do you have another photo prior to the "pruning", and would you be able to take a similar photo of how it is now so we could compare?

Welcome to NGA @Malcolm From what I was able to glean from searching, this pine does not grow from old wood. I hope someone more knowledgeable in working with these pines will chime in.
