DogsNDaylilies said:Thank you, all! To be fair, I've been ogling irises for a little while now here on ATP/NGA. I loved all of the photos, but it was hard to appreciate them fully until I saw one in person...in my own yard, no less! I didn't realize the blooms were so big, for one, and mine has a lovely, sweet fragrance when I stick my nose in it, so I'm assuming others do, too. And, a picture might be worth a thousand words, but seeing it in person is priceless. Lovey dubby I think my next one will be something very different, though, just for some contrast until I can afford to do an abundance of them.

You ain't seen nothing yet... 🌺. 😊😊
Buying, blooming, and growing great iris is as satisfying as great xxx. (soon you'll understand that part too! Just never admit it on a national public forum.) 😀

@highdesertniki ,
Thank you for letting me know! Twist of Sheree was on my initial gift plant request list, but it didn't make it to my final gift plant request list Sad So not much liklihood of getting that.

But....I came across a website last night--someone who I had talked to about *daylilies* last year but didn't end up ordering from--who had the three iris cultivars I really wanted at excellent prices. Lovey dubby In a moment of weakness (or good sense and good luck?) I put in ANOTHER order of irises because her online count on two of the three was down to a single rhizome. Rolling my eyes. Whistling And on THAT order, I had Millennium Falcon! I will share my order/list on here soon once I confirm availability and pay her. I don't want to count my chickens before they hatch. [Insert unhatched eggs emojis here, LoL!]

I've seen it mentioned a few times, both here on NGA and on a website or two, that atleast one cultivar of iris smells like grape jelly, and I'm pretty sure that's what the scent of mine is, too. Does that help identify it? Or are there many cultivars that smell like grape jelly?

I have 4 or 5 different ones that smell like that. Fragrance, or lack of same, will help with an ID. I have one that's got a spicy smell.
