This is Hosta montana 'Aureomarginata'. It is my favorite. I like the bright colors. It really can liven up a drab or shady corner. I also like how the leaves stand up erectly. You can plant small plants at its feet.

Here it is again:

I have two... one looks beautiful. The other came up just about 6" and never unfurled. I thought maybe a vole buffet, but I dug it up and it has nice looking roots... Maybe another freakish thing I can blame on our weird spring weather!

I live in Tennessee. When should my hosta bloom here? I have lots of hostas, even the stripe leaf but none have bloomed so far.

They bloom at different times. If you go to www.hostalibrary.org you can find your hostas bloom times by clicking on My hostas.net database. It will tell you size, color, bloom time...anything you need to know about your hosta!

@pitcherell, it is beautiful if you pair it with a light yellow flower...like a daylily. The yellow picks up the yellow highlights in the hosta leaves. I guarantee you will no longer "lose" your hosta in the garden!

@DKR622, I don't think hostas are particularly grown for their flowers...they are more a foliage plant, the flowers are a small bonus. Some of them do have spectacular & nicely scented flowers. Is it 'Aphrodisia' that has large white flowers? They make a statement in a shade garden. (Others may know.) I hope you like your hosta foliage? And I hope you won't be disappointed by the flowers.

I was watching a video of Shady Rest daylily gardens and they had a special section for hostas and they were quite an attraction with all the blooms.

I let my hostas bloom because the hummingbirds absolutely love those flowers. As soon as flowers dry I go out with bucket and snippers and cut stems back to foliage height.

That keeps my named hostas named. I don't want seedlings because I like trading and want to be as careful as I can with each variety.

Cayuga - I think it's 'Aphrodite'. Also 'Venus' has spectacular flowers.
