Just checked mine using this sites finder by zip (95818) and it says Sacramento is 8A but we're 9b. ?

It says I'm 8b, but Sebastopol has always been 9a and is rumored to have become 9b in recent years.

Yeah, it sure looks like things have changed. We were in Daytona Beach for 43 years which was always 9a and it now shows DB as zone 9b. We now live in Sebastian, Fl which used to be listed as zone 10a and it's now listed as 9b. Confused

On the zone lookup page it says "The 1990 USDA Hardiness Zone Map" -- the map was changed in 2012 to reflect climate change, which puts a lot of us in a warmer zone; pretty much right after they did that, a lot of the country had the coldest winter in memory (including where I am) Blinking

Updating the zone finder to reflect the new hardiness zones is one of my TODO tasks.

That must be one very long To-Do list @dave. Blinking I cannot even imagine!

Today, when plugging in the zip code the NGA map is from 1990.
Is the zip code look-up still only available for the older map and waiting to be updated?

Thank You! Thanks, and no hurry. Just curious.

Thanks, I know how to find the 2012 map; my question was when is NGA going to have a zip code search connected to the 2012 map.

We have the 2012 map shown on our own zipcode page. I don't know if or when I'll ever make our zipcode search update to the 2012 zones.

The zone map has been updated with the 2012 data and it will now show you your 2012 zone based on your zipcode. Thanks for your help, sooby!

Under the "Fall Planting Strategies" the fourth paragraph's first word is "cole' that should be "cold". No way to suggest that edit below it. I tip my hat to you.

The word "cole" was intentional and is correct. https://garden.org/learn/artic...
