The correct ratio for hummingbird nectar is 4 parts of water to 1 part sugar. This means you would add 1 cup of sugar to 1 quart of water (4 cups = 1 quart).

Yes, and if I added 3 cups of water to my concentrate, I would have about a quart. That is where I got my ratio of adding three parts water to my concentrate. I started with 1 part water & 1 part sugar, brought to a boil long enough to melt the sugar. I would need to add three more parts water to make the 4 parts water to 1 part sugar.
