Had a climbing rose die but from underground about a foot away a new rose plant is forming. It also has buds. Any Ideas.

Your rose was most likely grafted. What you have coming up is off the old rootstock, probably a red or white climber. If you live in an area that gets much below freezing in the winter, you might want to buy self-rooted roses.
