Has anyone had problems with dogs and oyster plants? I just read somewhere that they are toxic to dogs and also cause extreme allergies to them. Itching, watery eyes, breathing problems and a definate trip to the vet if they even rub against it. Luckily, I just got it and if need be I can take it to my office. Now this makes me wonder if I have anything else they ( my dogs) shouldn't be around?

I grow it, but it's in a hanging basket out of the reach of the dog. I've read about its toxicity, but when it comes to houseplants the list gets long, pretty quick on those that can cause reactions in dogs, cats, and even humans. I'm aware, but have never had a problem having pets with the plants. That's not a large number of pets, though, because my pets have not had big turnover and so perhaps the ones I've had just were ones that naturally left the vegetation alone. Or just had a preference for my water hoses and shower curtains .

I gave up and took it to my office just to be safe, I have 3 little dogs who love to pee on my plants if I'm not watching them, and with my luck one of them would get a rash...
