Hemlady said:Kyla, both parents of the seedling are tall so the shortness of the scapes could just be because of first year bloom. I bet next summer it will be much taller. You have to sometimes wait 3 years to get the correct bloom from a seedling. I don't usually dispose of them until after I have had them at least 3 years.

Thanks! I was thinking this was the case, that it was because of being first year, and it's definitely early days for all of these. I'm for the most part delighted with the blooms. Have had a few others, just too busy to post, but it's looking pretty out there. Smiling

So, if I haven't got my markers confused -- Sticking tongue out -- this is another Lighthouse Peach Jewel X Magic of Oz, and I really like this one though it is still on the short side.

Thumb of 2016-06-07/kylaluaz/fa5e4a

Behind it you can just see another bloom -- the way I have them it's really hard to tell which are siblings and which are from the same plant but I think these are siblings. The other one had slug damage so I didn't bother to photograph it.

Then here are a couple of Flutterbye X Lavender Curls, really pretty!

Nice seedlings everyone.

The rain has finally ceased after three days.
Some may have seen these earlier.
This is a three year old to be registered this fall, lots of buds, great scape, and fertile.

My oh my! Makes me swoon to see all these amazing seedling blooms! Words don't express what I think of them! Keep em coming folks! Y'all have real children stars growing this year!

I have a few more seedlings blooming. Nothing like those in previous posts from others, but I like to share my photos so you can see what some parent cultivars produce.

CCC109 (Cajun Sunshine x unknown):

Thumb of 2016-06-08/beckygardener/c66744

This is one of my favorite low growing seedlings. It is a keeper for me because of the cute short clump and the color of the bloom is so unique. Not like anything else I have currently. It's foliage seems to stay nicely compact (better than most of my other seedlings). Parentage is unknown.

Small clump currently:

DDD05 (First bloom ever) - Stargate Portal x Jan's Twister. Those puckers on the petals is odd. Is that a malady? I love the colors and size of this bloomer. It will be interesting to see how this one matures over a couple more years. Both photos were taken in the early morning. Interesting in the change. Maybe the humidity?:

CCC44 - Lavender Blue Baby x unknown. I could tell that is what this one had in it before I check the parentage. No telling what the pollen parent is....

They should be ready to go. They need about three weeks to cool down. These will have already been chilled, just plant or keep cool till planting.

The second bloom looks better on the (Galaxy Explosion X Milady Greensleeves) seedling. How large is the bloom? I wouldn't have thought it would be more than 4", but in the photo it looks larger.

Wild Horses sure seems to contribute the same pattern and general form to the progeny. Which is okay with me since I like both. Nice that the color seem to be coming from Make Room For Miracles.

Becky, that puckering on DDD05 is called "crepe". It's a texture feature. Some people love it, others hate it. For myself, I think it very much depends on the particular flower. The beautiful (and rust resistant) Stout Medal winner 'Brocaded Gown' has this feature.

(I went into the AHS Dictionary intending to post a link to their definition, but found that they do not have an entry for either "crepe" or "texture". Hmmm. Glare )

I have two seedlings that have buds that look like they will bloom tomorrow, hopefully they will still be decent when I get home for work. This evening I noticed a seedling with two scapes, and the buds are a shape I haven't seen before. Anyone know if this is normal for a certain type of bloom, or just an oddity for this particular seedling? I have included pics of each scape.

Larry, I just realized you were talking to me there because I didn't realize I had written "Fred." I'm not sure if that one was my fault or autocorrect, though. I know your name, and autocorrect has been very aggravating lately, but I can't figure out what I could have typed that autocorrect would have changed it to "Fred"... So maybe I was having a brain fart? Or maybe it was supposed to say "Frankly"... but why would it then change it to Fred instead of Frank? Blinking I think I have to blame myself on that one, Larry, but I'm not sure why I'd have that name brain fart after knowing your name all this time. Confused
