it can be a seed stalk of Arum italicum, it's an aroid. june is about the right time for it have berries, but they are not ripe yet. by july it should be fully red.
it's dormant in hot summer, the leaves show up in the fall and in milder areas persist thru winter and blooms in april-may.

I agree, knowing where the plant is growing would help greatly to be able to give an exact identity. Ariasaema (Jack in the Pulpit) have similar looking seedheads/pods ... as possibly do many other plants.
