Hello everyone!

I have been playing with the idea of selling my daylilies on etsy. I've sold jewelry and art on etsy since 2008. Which has been wonderful.

I have a lot of older cultivars, and since I'm in the south, they multiply like crazy. I need my garden beds back for new seedlings. Hilarious!

Any thoughts on selling on etsy vs. The daylily auction?

Thank You!

If you are already selling stuff on Etsy, that should be your guide.
You might try a test sale or two.

I've sold other plants on Ebay and Bonanza and that worked fine.
Haven't sold on LA but think it might be a good source.
Have also sold stuff locally of Craigslist and Facebook in the past.

Hi, Angela
I have sold on ATPs and on our local FB For Sale pages. I collect and sell my excess vintage items. I am an avid collector of depression glass/ McCoy pottery etc. So I have sold on Ebay and have a Etsy account. I have it down now but I have been also wondering about adding plants to it. My daughter's are artsy and I may list a few of their things.

It seems like my newer plants get a better price on the Lily Auction. That is where collectors go, but some folks just like color, so you have a different group. I would give it a try!

Please give me a link to your Etsy page.

Do you have a farmer's market in your area Angela??? If you do, you could take some daylilies there to sell.

Excellent idea, the problem here it is in next county and they require you live there. Ours charge a $50 set up fee. I have potted up some older ones and took to our local flea mkt. I get about $5 for a DF of the oldies. If they are blooming they go like hot cakes. I have even put them in bare root in garbage bags and then down in 5 gallon buckets with water.

Wow, that is a stiff price Teresa. Here I think they only charge $l0 to rent a spot to sell.

I have bought jewelry on Etsy but the only plant material was some Hawthorn branches. I do buy from the Lily Auction. Give both a try. Not sure of the selling costs on either.

Wow! Your motivated. Awesome! Love depression glass. Sweet your daughters are into art. Etsy is wonderful for that. I have my artwork in Australia, blows my mind. My etsy store is in the works, any advice greatly welcomed. It's been 5 years since I've sold on there.

I thought I might offer name your own daylilies, but am thinking I'm not there yet. So like you suggested, maybe oldies that are dependable. Seems seeds sell well too on etsy.

I was really shocked to see how many plants/seeds are on Etsy. I had never heard of it until my girls clued me in.

@hemlady, I would love to sell at the farmers market, I just don't have enough plants lined out and ready to be potted and presented properly. Next year. Etsy only charges 20cents to list your item for 3 months. Free to open a store. And then 3%? Fee I think on what you sell. I made 2500$ in 2 years selling jewelry. Of course it's easy to turn around and spend what you make with PayPal. Rolling on the floor laughing But like many have said on here, it's money to feed the habit. ;)

Yes, I agree I spend most of mine on garden plants, mulch, pots and just stuff I would hate to buy with other money.
