This is my favorite Daylily ever. It just glows. The flowers are huge and thick. Which Daylilies would you recommend that have the same style of bloom but other colors?

Another one of Curt Hanson's that I love for it's size and plastic like substance is Tall Blonde.

I have never seen Primal Scream available in Australia despite the years. It is a dormant as well.
Pleasure just for a few, alas. Crying

Primal Scream is also one of my favorites.

I found scapes today on Larry's Obsession and Buddy's Betsy. Hurray! Hurray!

I just planted Primal Scream this Spring and looking forward to see it blooms, so far no scape and hasn't get much bigger, so it will probably be next year before I see the blooms...

I haven't seen that one but I sure like the looks of it. Love taller scapes.

Yes, I will have Panic in Detroit as well. Love the tall scapes

I was reading Munson's 1989 book (Hemerocallis the Daylily) last night while the rain poured. Interestingly, on scapes, he mentioned how much needed and successful work had gone into reducing the height of scapes on the modern daylily.

Looking for border plants, I expect. Perhaps at the time height limited them toward the back and there weren't many for the mid and front borders.

Primal Scream is very distinctive. I grew it for many years. Miss it, now that I have cut back the garden size so drastically.

Similar triangular form with large flowers, JELLYROLL MORTON, registered at 46", is much taller than Primal Scream. Really nice branching and bud count for me. Lovely color.

My 'Primal Scream' bloomed while I was away so I missed the show. Judging by the puny scapes left behind I did not miss much. I was told when I purchased this plant that it would be very slow to reproduce and it has been. But I noticed today that finally it has two new fans growing. Maybe it put it's energy into the new fans instead of scapes and blooms this year. Hope for better things next year.

Would love to get my hands on Hanson's Tall Blonde--anybody have extras, let me know, please. Here is one of Hanson's that is doing wonderfully well for us:

If you like near whites, try Heavenly Angel Ice.

For red, I think Spiderman is supposed to be like that, but I forget what my bloom looked like last year.

I purchased Primal Scream last year. Waiting patiently for it to bloom - southern NH.
You might also like Ruby Spider - huge blooms.
