I'll have to grow Black and Bloom some year if I see it available.

I have to say I'm a little disappointed in 'black & bloom'. It is mid August, but this plant still is not blooming. It is finally growing some spikes, but this is pretty late in the season to not have blooms. All other salvias in the yard have been in bloom for a while, including all other guaraniticas(blue ensign, black & blue, argentina skies, amistad). In addition, the plant's form is a bit loose and uneven.

@hawkeyewx Dan,

Good to know. I was thinking about growing it next year, but I think I'll pass.

It was mid August (8/18) when I got my first flower (only one) on Rhythm and Blues. I got my second, third and fourth flower today on 8/21 (first one was already finished blooming). Wished I'd gotten Black and Blue this year and/or some of the other guaraniticas, since I would've a lot of flowers blooming by now. I'm growing two Amistad plants and they've been blooming for a long time.

Maybe if I saw R and B and/or B and Bloom with flowers and buds already on the plant in pots at a store, I might be tempted to buy them.
