There are so many times when I just want to say hello to everyone and now there are so many threads and so many friends, I just do not know where to begin, so I have decided to make it easier for those of us who are old and forgetful and have nothing much to say but still want to keep in touch....THIS IS THE PLACE... Everyone is welcome and there is no particular subject...just pop in, say what you have to say and off you go again. You may write a little or a lot....no one will care since we aren't going anyplace and this for many of us is our only chance to talk to others. So, join in and say hello or whatever. Remember, be nice...respect and kindness are the only rules.

My thoughts today are with all of those in the Texas flood area. The animals trying to swim for dry land. The crops that are being destroyed. The homes and families that are being just torn apart. I have lived through several flash floods many years ago in PA and it took our covered bridge away and came up past the first floor of the house. They took me out the second story window to high ground. So, this is bringing back childhood memories for me. God Bless all the families and their pets and stock. Hopefully the sun will shine for you soon.

Good morning Jacquie! Good to hear from you. No matter the age of anyone, it is always the thought that counts! And your thoughts are very welcome on this thread or any other. Wishing for better conditions for the folks in Texas with the flooding and all; and hoping for better days ahead for everyone. Smiling

Morning Leon. I am getting lazy when it comes to the social media. But, this will be the last place I give up since I have been with Dave from almost day one many years ago. It is just difficult for me to remember where some of my old buddies are since my gardening days are limited to containers now. I do have a few things growing on the farm that I planted before I hurt myself last year and when I had the plant internet business. My favorite this time of year is the peony. The old peonies took a beating with the weather just as they were at their best. Here is a picture of what happened to them.

Where is Fountain located? My grandson just graduated from Univ. of Miami and decided to go to Stetson Law School. I think he will be living in Gulfport if he can get an apartment he can afford.

Since I retired I am going wackie trying to stay busy. I am unable to do much gardening because of my injury to my rt. side last summer, but I do my horseshoes and container growing. I find I am frustrated most of the time since I am rather limited in my driving also. I lost all my gardenias and would love to start again with them, but I have just too much just now with the Holiday Cactus, Camelias , jasmine and mandevilla and bougainvillea and hibiscus. I am afraid the greenhouse will be too full this winter when it comes time to move everything inside. I lined my dog run with containeers of tropicals. Here is a pic.

We do not have tree rats but I do have groundhogs and coons and fox that so far eat only the dry cat food in the barn.

Dog run looks good. Wish I could do that, but Dixie would run them over with her BIG ball and then chew them up...like she did with 3 azaleas on the patio Glare Glare Fountain is in the panhandle about 30 miles north of Panama City.

Charle eats Bounty....by the roll if he could. Grass but not really plants. Thank God. I have enough problems when he gets into the Bounty or Kleenex. It is like he never gets fed. Wonder what it is in those two things that make them so tasty? I spent hundreds of dollars on vet bills because he empties waste cans. Now all the cans have lids. At 5 years old you would think he would knock it off.

Yeah good luck with that. Onyx is my paper eater. Had my BP readings written down on a piece of paper(on the dinning room table) to transfere to the chart the Dr. gave me but Onyx figured she needed to EAT it more then the Dr. needed to see it Shrug! oh well...back to square one. She stays out of the garbage, but nothing is safe on the table. Glare

Thanks for starting this thread, JB. Glad to have a gathering place.

Tony was only able to work briefly this morning. then had to leave to take his mother to La Paz for medical treatment. Don't know when he'll be back. We're in good shape here. I just have to keep plants watered and the dogs fed.

I just felt some of the things we talk about are of no interest to many others, so here we are @Katiebear. How old is Tony? You are so lucky to have him around all the time. Wish I could find someone to just keep me company when I want company. It is also nice to have someone around to do the little things we can no longer do. I hate this but I am blessed with what I do have. You take care. Is it warm there now? How many dogs do you have now.?

Morning to all....I am off to vote. Yes, I am voting for Trump. I have had my fill of the establishment and since we are not permitted to talk politics on here, I will leave it at that. Love you all. Have a wonderful day.

I think Tony is about 60. The really great thing about our relationship is that he is as grateful for me as I am for him. And it is great to have help with all the little chores (and big) that seem to take me forever. Now I also have Anita who loves to clean!! She came this morning and washed the backlog of dishes and plant stuff. Both are good company and they like each other. I feel very blessed.

Electricity was out when I got up around 7. It didn't come back on until about noon. And it's really hot now. Very uncomfortable.

I have five dogs now. I'm fostering one of them until the new owner gets back from a Frank Sinatra competition in New Jersey. I won't mind if he backs out as Sugar, the foster, plays with Inky Dink who is my youngest and too playful for the three older dogs.

The jasmine I had did well for several years, then died. Don't now why.

So much to do. Think I'll take a nap.

Frank Sinatra Competition in New Jersey......I wonder where that is, I have not heard about it. My old love, old blue eyes. Sighing!

Our friend came in third in the competition. If you Treemail me your email address I can forward you the article. They used a picture of Dwayne for the article even though he didn't come in first.

I have a new computer. Learning to use the keyboard.

I posted on my grumpy thread. katie

Dwayne has not contacted me about adopting Sugar and I was told he got back about ten days ago. So I guess I now have five dogs. Inky Dink is happy as she and Sugar can play together. They are fun to watch and the three older dogs aren't being pestered to play as much.

It is seriously hot and humid here now. And will be until about mid-October. I have a large forest of Okra growing. At least something likes this heat.

Anita worked today. Tony had to take his father to Santa Rosalia for a medical appointment. I was offline for about a week and Hugo. our local computer person, stood me up several times. Last night Tony brought his son Antonio out here and he fixed the connection. Makes me glad I have kept him in computers for all these years. The young man is a genius. Of course, to me he will always be a giggling four-year-old.

The weather here has been nice the past few days. Nothing like a sea breeze to help keep the humidity away. I am still trying to get strength in my legs and hips from my incident last July. This is so depressing and annoying not being able to do the things I want to do. There is an open house at one of my old friend's horse farm today and I so want to go, but I will not be able to walk any distance without so much discomfort it is not worth it.

I am not growing anything at this time except two tomato plants and 4 peppers in containers. I think my son in law put two zuchini plants in the field by some of the baby trees.....I miss our garden but no way can we take care of a big garden again.
I do have some milkweed in a container so that I can attract Monarch butterflies but other than that the rest of the plants are on the deck and in the house and they are all doing well. Nothing being sold or grown to sell anymore. I seem to be doing less each day.

Guess I will go fill the bird feeders before the sun gets too hot. Take care of yourself and try and stay cool.

It's hot and humid here. Good for the okra and adeniums. I had to take a second pain killer to be able to get the ladder and tie the jacaranda tree to its neighbors to straighten it up. So much to do with little energy and lots of pain. So I'm mostly playing poker.

Thinking a lot about how to condense thirty years of abuse by my retirement association into a three minute presentation for the state Board.

Pain sucks.
