Name: Nancy West Central Wisconsin on the (Zone 5a)
I am going to upload some of my seedlings that are full siblings and bloomed for the first time this summer as two year old plants. They are large and prolific. I Do have some that have bloomed at less than one year old and also those that have taken up to four years to bloom.
These seedlings are what is called F2 as I bred the parent seedling(garden -named "Firstbourne") back to itself. My son suggested I do this so I finally bit the bullet and did that and have been PLEASANTLY surprised. "Firstbourne" is a Barbara Dittmer(((Shadow Dance × Tet. Siloam Virginia Henson) × Angel's Smile) x an unknown seedling. It has very good plant habit and a pretty face, but not a striking face. These seedlings out of 'her', bred back to herself all have good plant habits and prettier(striking?) faces and larger blooms than BARBARA DITTMER. I sure wish I knew who the other parent is-Probably TRULY ANGELIC or ANGEL BRAID.The last one is of "Firstbourne" so you can compare easily. Hope you like them..I know also that they could change next year so hopefully they will not be a disappointment but will stay the same or get even better! Nancy
Nancy, I see you got the information into the right top field for yourself which helps ID you to the rest of us. Good start. Now you just need some badges. You could upload some photos to the database to earn some if you want too. Not seedlings but registered daylilies and just about any other plant too.
I really like the looks of you last seedling. I just like the soft coloring and the pattern, very pretty.
Nancy, if you go to the top of the page you will see in the "banner" section: Plants, Forums, Articles & so forth... if you click on "Plants" it will take you to the plant database where you can upload photos of registered daylilys or any other kind of plant as well as fill out info. on those daylilys or plants. You earn 1 acorn for the info. & 1 acorn for the photo & 1 acorn for a comment about a plant and like that. If you click on profile it will take you to your profile page where it will tell you how many acorns you have as well as lots of other info. such as the photos you have contributed to the database & how many proposals to the database etc...
Just post if you have any problems & one of us will tell you what to do.
I am a strong believer in the simple fact is that what matters in this life is how we treat others. I think that's what living is all about. Not what I've done in my life but how I've treated others. ~~ Sharon Brown
Nice seedlings Nancy. I have done a few F2s myself but haven't had very good results. Some of yours look like they have really nice scapes with lots of buds and branching plus a nice face.
Nice seedlings!!! Thanks for explaining what f2 is. I have heard that term before and never knew what it meant. I had a hybridizer suggest that I do some f2 crosses and I didn't know what he was talking about, lol.
