I have a very old, ornate wrought-iron garden arch that I need to choose a vine/climber for. I want something that grows quickly, can withstand winter snows ( zone 7a), has lots of color & is unusual enough to be really eye-catching. Oh, and it needs to be a perennial. All suggestions will be much appreciated.

How tall is the gate? A clematis might work they come in different heights and are perennial plus there is a wide selection of different colors. Most perennials take a couple of seasons to get established although you live in a warmer climate so they might take off faster for you.
If you want to be happy for a lifetime plant a garden!
