Hi,

A friend gave me this iris many years ago. It grew in her grandmother's yard. It is nothing special. No bells or whistles but it is actually one of my favorites. It does not seem susceptible to the scourge of iris borer, it grows merrily along, never needing staking, and it is surprisingly luminous in the early morning or late afternoon.

Does anyone know what it is?

To be sure, you need to grow a known test plant next to it.

Celia...a test plant? Buy an iris named Loreley & see if it looks the same?

Yes, that's right. You need to look at size, shape, color, height etc to be sure. Basing an ID for an iris just on a picture is, unfortunately, not always enough.

Find a vendor who sells it or find someone who owns it and test out the theory. I have Loreley but I don't have enough to share yet. Would you be willing to go over and show your picture in the iris forum? There are some folks there who could give a better yes/no than my 90% certainty. Smiling
