I have the perenial one that I got this past summer and I did not notice any smell. It went dormant fairly quick though I will have to pay attention to it next year when it wakes up.

I didn't plant it, it just showed up all on it's own...Don't remember every planting anything by that name either... I haven't done any seeding in ages...

Alan, it was probably a gift from animals or birds passing through your property. We sometimes get nice surprises from wildlife and sometimes not so nice if it's weeds or unwanted pest plants.
