My mom always had little bowls on the windowsill with celery hearts, sweet potato vines, an avocado pit held in water with 3 toothpicks….. anything that would sprout. I do it, too. It's so nice to reach over when cooking & have a few fresh, tender little celery stalks to add to soup or whatever. Thumbs up

I have done it with lettuce, romaine, It will start to grow up and out of the center.
