That's better looking and easier to install than what I did last year using chicken wire... and I can testify that this caging technique did protect a bunch of my young shrubs and trees from groundhog and bunny damage last winter. We rarely see deer tracks, so I can't comment on deer specifically... how tall are your cages?

Sweet! We make these with several different gages, depending on where we're placing them.
We had to protect everything when we lived in NJ!
We also used the finer gage material like you have in one of your photos. The green coated is a great illusion. It was right in front of me and I still tripped over it.
Out here on the hills of WV, don't even think of planting anything without a "cage".
It'll be gone in the morning!

Hi! The Deer Cage is 4 feet tall and has a diameter of 3 feet. I've tested it across 4 seasons now, and have found these dimensions to be extremely effective. Some incidental nibbling of leaves that hang over the top by determined deer is possible, but otherwise it's working great. www.deercage.com
