It was a sunny day so the color faded some but the bloom still looks good.

I actually don't like daylilies with this much substance. They are almost brittle. The least amount of handling and you've lost a petal or sepal. Easy to do if you are deadheading or hybridizing. A little more flexibility would be welcome.

I just thought that I would re-initiate this conversation because I'm on the search for daylilies with great substance again, and I doubt I'm the only one!

We seem to have a lot of yellows with great substance, and you're welcome to keep 'em comin', but I'm looking forward to seeing other colors, too. Surely there has to be some purples, deep reds, etc. with great substance, right? (I know a couple of them have been mentioned, but I'll be there are far more!)

Once again, I'll 'start' us off with a post of one that I think has great substance in my garden:

I purchased this as sort of a grab bag assortment and didn't realize that it had a label with it, so I nick-named it "Peachcake" in my garden, until I saw that it was actually Sherry Lynn Carr (thanks, first, to an excellent guess by a fellow NGA members, and then to a buried label to confirm it.

I also remember Funny Valentine having really good substance, too:

Last year Northern Treasure had the substance. Neither heat nor rain bothered it in the least.

I think Worth It All has good substance. And it seems like the color changes from year to year, lol!

It only gets 22" tall, so these big blooms look crowded and get in the way of each other.
