This shrub is located in a morning sun location (hardiness zone 6b) ..planted 3 years ago ( 12 " high ) it is now almost 6 ' in height. I have lost the identity tag for it and I would like to take cuttings from it but am not sure if it is feasible. Any help with identification would be greatly appreciated!

Garden Sages Plant Identifier
Calycanthus floridus - Carolina Allspice

Does it have an odor? The ones on the west coast (Calycanthus occidentalis) smell like old red wine barrels.

North American calycanthus (C. floridus & C.occidentalis) have narrow, pointed petals. Calycanthus chinensis has wide, round-ended petals. Most likely, your shrub is a cross between the three: probably Calycanthus x raulstonii 'Heritage Wine'.
