OK, admit it, we ALL have wish lists for daylilies. You know, those ones that we just haven't been able to snag off the auction, or can't afford just yet, or <gulp> don't have room for or even ones we would love to have, but know they won't perform well in our location.

What is on YOUR wish list?

Mine includes Blackberry Dragon - Gossard, tet, 41" EM Dormant, emo, fr, 8.5" - cascade, deep black rasberry color, sunfast. Lucky for me, I do have some BD seedlings.

Bullfrog Kisses -Smith, tet, Crazy Ivan x Wild Cherry Roundup. Semievergreen, 34" 6.5 " flower. White with red eye and red edge

Westbourne Oranges For Christmas - MJ Meadows, tet, 32", Semievergreen, MLa, rbl, 7" flower. Orange red with green throat. I also have Westbourne Flowering Spooks and Cream Of The Crop on my list

Green Inferno - another Gossard. Dip, 39" EMRe Dormant, emo , Neon green spider.

Rise Of The Phoenix - Cribb, tet, 34" Mid, Re fiery red UF, SEV, cold hardy.

Of course, I keep adding to my lists, as I see the photos and read the comments that others post on their daylilies. That's how Westbourne Oranges For Christmas got added (it's Rita's fault!)

OK, don't keep your lists secret, what's on YOUR list? ~Jan

I knew you would catch that! But it IS your fault for that particular Westbourne! On the other hand, I am always thrilled to know when a particular cultivar will do well in northern climates. Although not a guarantee, it does help. Plus, seeingphotos OTHER than the hybridizers gets me a better idea of what the flower will look like ~Jan

I'd love to have Dottie Warrell's Break Dance! Loved it when I saw it in person in a clump before she introduced it.

Well, I guess I can say that I don't really have a wish list -- at this moment -- because I've been going crazy trying to get my hands on everything I really really want right now! I've potted up everything that I recently received because it's still hot here (although we're supposed to start cooling down this coming week -- Yea!), and I now have three 4' x 8' tables totally filled with pots of daylilies, which I hope to reduce to two after I start my next round of planting. And I've even pre-ordered from Fred for next spring already! We're about to head for the beach for a week on Thursday, and I'm taking my two books with information I've collected on all my daylilies, my lists and my plots/maps with me and will start the decision-making process down there. I actually have more time to deal with this type of stuff when we're on vacation because I don't have all my "chores" to do, and in the evening I can just relax in front of the TV and think about it all. No question that I've over-bought, tho -- but then that's me! I always have this feeling that if I want to see something bloom I need to get it NOW because there might not be a LATER! Is that some sort of phobia? Yikes!

Lucky for me, I got Halloween Costume as a bonus this year from Maryotts. Big Grin It didn't bloom this summer (one of my few new Maryotts that didn't). On the other hand, I am really anticipating a beautiful show from it next year!

I managed to snag a couple of my wish list from the LA also, for really reasonable prices. One was Gods Gift To Warthogs, others were Wild Horses and Tusk. Tusk initially didn't do well, but seems to be holding it's own for now. I am not sure it will survive winter.

I do watch for seeds on the LA containing flowers on my wish list. That way perhaps I can have the genetics, without paying the big bucks for the flowers. And if I am going to play with seeds anyways, might as well be with ones from my wish ilst.

Of course, I should probably change the name from wish list, to want, gotta have it - list.

I will admit to changing my mind on some, such as Born To Run. I have wanted it for a couple of years, but now, unless the price is right or I get it as a bonus, it's not such a big deal right now. ~Jan

OH MY GOODNESS!!! I've only seen Westbourne's name on the LA just a few times and have never been to their website, until now. WHY????? Do you wonderful people keep on doing this to me???? I just got through looking at Lamberston and drooling all over my keyboard, and know I read about Westbourne's Oranges for Christmas. I'll just have to let you know that Orange is my favorite this year so naturally I had to go look at it. Then wham!!! I love them all but Oranges for Christmas is wonderful!!! Soooooo, how do you expect me to pay for all the daylilies that I want???? When you figure this out, please let me know. I'll set here heartbroken because I can not possibly have what I want. Now, can you find me some more to go look at so I can go into sensory overload. While I wait, I'm going back to Westbournes to soak up all their goodies. Love and blessings to all, Mona

Ain't this just the most fun!!!!

Mona. I just love Mary Janes introductions. (Westboune daylilies). I have way over 40 of them, more than I have from any other hybridizer.

I can see why. they are wonderful!! Now, I'll just have to start another saving account, one penny at a time. It looks like she is reasonable priced, too. I really like the new one Flowering Spooks. I know it's a dip, but it is so wonderful!!! You and I are in the same zones, but my summers get really hot and humid, do you think her's would grow in my heat?

I am with you, Betty, I think, in that I went a little overboard this year and am still trying to find places to cram everything in. I've only reserved one (so far) for next year....not a new one, but one I really liked when I saw it on tour this summer...Lambertson's Violet Sabrewing. It's still a long time until spring...lol...I'm sure I will weaken and possibly add more. But, I'm going to try and be strong...for once!
