I have seen a lot of plants but what is this one. Looks like some kind of bromeliad. Not mine but friend wants to know.

I agree, it's a Bromeliad. But I'm damned if I know which one.

I believe it's a Pinguicula, commonly known as a butterwort, a genus of carnivorous plants.

Seeing these "spines" on the leaves and the water filled funnel in the centre I'd say Kate is right with her bromeliad. The carnivorous plants you talk about tend to be flat and have smooth, sticky leaves, insects get attached to. They do not form a funnel.
This one seems to be more sphere or half-sphere shaped. No clue what species it could be.

Thank you Lynn and Michael,
So far we agree that it is a bromeliad. Now if I can find it to buy it. Got to see my son on where it's at.

yep, it's definitely a neo (brom)!
but the dimples on leaves and such a dense regular rosette is rare - it's beauty, if you can get it. I've seen a lot of neos, but nothing like this!

I think I already responded to this. Its from Pinterest. Its a bromeliad. It was from the Facebook account of a landscape and design magazine (whose name I can't find anymore - of course).

Yes, my son told me that his wife saw it on Face book and ask if I can I.D. it. Thanks all. Problem is solved. I saw some on Firefly Nursery for a good price. Not yellow but some nice colors.
