Nice amount of CP's. Are they growing outdoors? What growing media are you using for them?

Yes, all outdoors.
Switched from peat and other additives to STRICTLY coco coir. Look up how peat moss is obtained, and, you will do the same without hesitation. I. Promise.

The coco coir that line the hanging baskets? Saw some at the dollar store this week, at least that is what the tag said. Just read about peat moss, never knew that information. I now understand how it is made.

Jo Ann, you have nice plants also.

😊😊😊 glad your now informed!

And, not the coco in baskets, they sell it just like peat moss or other soils. Generally you'll only find it in "grow" shops.

Thank you for compliments!

I'm actually embarrassed on how they look, I have sooo many projects at the moment, all of my plants are truly running at 60% efficiency, need to be cleaned we'd divided, repotted, yadi yadi ya.

Right now I got butterfly farming going on, that is my longest endevour, raising them from egg absorbs all of my time.

Patty said:Howdy! I just bought a bunch of CP's and am excited to see this forum. I liked the pics and seeing the different containers people have them in. Do they need to be in rain or distilled water? The gal selling them said no but everything I've read says yes. Here's my collection:

I put them all together in a bird bath, but have had to repot several of them into 6" pots so now they don't all fit. We have a small water feature/pond I might try to put them in.

Loving all the pics! Hurray! Everyone's plants look great. Haven't gotten around to my VFT's yet. My little one has a fever and very cranky. Sad

That came flowering? Wow surprised whoever sent it did not cut it off. That would greatly reassure the plant's health better off. Odd.

Nonetheless, beautiful.

Also a hint if anyone is new to CP's

If you don't know how the plant prefers it's lifestyle,
Find out its country of origin, and look up "weather" for it and try to match it Smiling

I love opening boxes, was not disappointed today. Will take photos when I find the proper container (what ever that is) for the last three. Not sure if I should repot yet. They went through enough shock to get to me.

The plants will wait. The baby is the priority now. Hopefully the fever does not last long.

No, they will bloom for you, I guarantee 100% they will bloom for you. And, no, don't cut it off. I think if they made it in the dark during shipment to you and look good like that you'll be ok. The odds are, if you do well with it. It will keep flowering for a while. You'll see ☺

I will leave the bloom alone. I only use distilled water on my CP's. The pots that they are in seem sufficient so I will not repot them until the plant grow bigger.

Yes, don't cut the blooms, I have observed even the stems of the blooms are sticky, so gnats get stuck on it too. I gave it a chance to get some gnats outdoors in Spring, while the sun is not too hot yet:

Hi Everyone! What a fun new forum. Thank You! Tarev for mentioning it - I would have missed it completely (tunnel vision).

I have been growing carnivorous plants for about 15 years now. The Sarracenia live outside and the Drosera and Nepenthes live in my greenhouse. I have never had any luck with Pings or flytraps. Most of the Drosera and some of the Sarracenia I grew from seed.

I need every sticky surface available. I don't have many flying bugs because the area where I live across from the Henry Hudson Parkway, river and state park is sprayed for mosquitos etc. The plants may need a few tiny bugs or two from the aquarium/pet shop. Even my own fish tank does not draw bugs.

Awesome collection Daisy. My plants are indoors under lights. I live on a low floor in the back of a large residential building with out much sun, just shadows, so must use lights. On the window sill outside there are those pigeons, so I don't want those visitors.
