Does anyone else feel like their flowers are their children? I am away for the weekend and I keep thinking about which flowers might be blooming and if there will be any FFO today that I will miss. Is this normal?

*off to scroll through the June Blooms thread again to get my daylily fix Rolling my eyes. Whistling

On the bright side...I just found out I'm close to Lenington Gardens. Going to stop by there this afternoon. Has anyone been there?

Amber, I so get it! I normally don't go out of town in June/July. So this June vacation that I am leaving on is totally throwing me off!! I am so happy that my "Billy the Kid" bloomed today and it looks like "Prickly Sensation" may pop by tomorrow (I will be running out to look before we leave the house at 6am tomorrow)!!!

Oh and no daylily sightseeing for me on my trip..... they don't grow in Hawaii!!! (I know, I know, don't complain, I will be going to paradise, but just so you all know, I grew up there, I don't have the love/obsession like other do, harder for me to get excited about! Whistling ).

Good to know I'm not crazy. Got to go see the Lenington Gardens. Lovely spot. Not a lot blooming yet. It has been too hot and dry the proprietress thinks. But I did get some pictures. We have to come back in a month for a softball tournament so I might try to check it out again then.

I will be returning to the KC area in a few weeks for another ball tournament. Hopefully I will have time then to swing by and look again when more will be blooming... and maybe make some purchases when I return next time Whistling

I have been away all week with my DH. I couldn't wait to look at my garden last night when we got in. It was at 8, but I still had to take a quick walk around. I love visiting gardens as part of my vaca Hurray! Today I am going to the Evansville daylily show. So I need to get out and take some pics to post later. Have a good weekend!

I worry some dog will run through them and tear them up, or some sorry soul will dig them up and carry them away... or that they will contract crown rot.... just this morning I was watering, SO HOT and DRY here it's miserable. I am hoping that morning watering doesn't cause them to rot with the high temps and many of them I just planted a month or two ago so not rooted well yet. I also have deer, I run out every morning to see if anything is damaged. I lay in my little bed at night, not able to sleep because what if something eats them while I am sleeping! Shouldn't I be out there with them ?! Sticking tongue out

I am leaving again for the weekend tomorrow. I am considering making my children give up baseball and softball so I don't have to leave my daylilies anymore...just kidding . I'm not that drastic yet. But, my order from Maryott's is being shipped today and I am worried it will arrive while I'm gone. Hopefully my husband will be able to keep them alive until I get home Crossing Fingers!

I am going to be gone all day on a Saturday soon. Thats one day not seeing my new blooms and during peak season. On a lighter note we are stopping at a Daylily-Hosta farm. I see me parting with some cash there. Green Grin!

I know exactly how you feel...I'm at the beach and keep thinking about what's blooming while I'm away Smiling ...watched the waves today and planned future crosses in my head!

It's good to get away and have a break though, so I'm not complaining Big Grin

Enjoy your weekend with the kids this weekend, Amber...they're only young once and these will be memories to have forever. I loved when my daughter played travel softball, the kids and parents had a blast!

Hope you got some great ones from Maryott's; make sure to share when they bloom...I ordered from them last summer and many of them bloomed for me a few weeks after receiving them, so there's a great chance you will have the same happen for you. Smiling

We go away for a week to l0 days every month to our northern cottage. I miss my flowers when we are gone. I miss them so much that I am taking a lot of them north with me and getting a good daylily planting started at the cottage, but unfortunately we don't have very good dirt there and they do not grow as well.
