Maybe you won't be affected and won't have to use anything?

That's my hope!

Apparently it spread from Europe to the U.S last year. I grew impatiens in pots as well as in ground without a problem. Several neighbors very close to my house grew a lot of impatiens and they didn't have any problems so I'm hoping it'll be OK.

I grow my coleus in that same bed and I'd be upset if it spread to them. And if I couldn't grow anything there for 2 more years!

I still need to take a round of cuttings. I have only my original 31 plants that I started from cuttings last fall. I need to get that done as well as sow some seeds- both wintersown and a few for under lights. I'm just so far behind this year.

Other stuff in my personal life is just keeping my garden projects on the back burner this year. I hope the "other stuff" will be done within a few days then I can concentrate on more fun things.

I finally did a tray of cuttings yesterday. Progress.

I didn't take any cuttings from some of my favorites because they're in sorry shape, not really big and healthy enough to give up foliage.

It was a discovery to me tat not all coleus responded the same when cuttings were taken.
Sedona was not happy and even tho I got one to live thru the winter it never perked up suering the summer.

Sedona is one of my rather pathetic ones. It's alive but small... Also Glory, Electric Lime, Inky fingers. Some of my plants look pretty full and healthy. Others just seem less tolerant of my haphazard care (watering, feeding, pinching). They all receive the same treatment, the same conditions. Granted, I'm not always the best plant Mom but coleus are generally pretty tolerant of abuse, like being allowed to dry out. Others lose lots of big leaves with the same treatment.
And once they lose lots of leaves they're less able to make energy for survival.

Thats odd I love Glory and grew it for years. My cuttings of it rallied and did well. Electric Lime was the same way. Dont toss'em yet.

Oh, I didn't toss them; I just didn't take cuttings from those as I think they need every leaf the have. Maybe I can nurse them back to health and get a few cuttings later.
