When I repotted my noid epi. . .wait a minute, I'm assuming noid means no identification. Please let me know if I'm wrong.

Anyway, when I repotted my epi it fell into 2 pieces so I put them in separate pots.

For the price of shipping I'm giving it away. Here is a picture of the plant and bloom. Sorry for the poor quality pic. For the postage I'd take a check or Paypal. I will email or text you with the actual price of postage once I get it packaged up.

I'm in South Dakota where the temps are hitting in the mid 90's. I will do my best to make sure the plant arrives in good condition but I have no control over the post office.

Yes German empress. Has a genetic propensity to get 'spotty' that usually ends in their demise.

German Empress is known to get spotty leaves, and it isn't as long lived as some of the others. It does grow fast though, so we take cuttings often and it grows fast.

I'm not sure this is German Empress then. Its never been spotty and is now around 16 years old. It seems to be hardy too as I froze it one October, then ignored it for a couple months before I decided to water it again before throwing it away. Imagine my surprise when it started to sprout new growth!

I don't know if that applies to all of them, or in all weather. It could be a fungal issue that is only common in certain environments? Mine has a late bud , so I'll try for a photo tomorrow. Too breezy this afternoon.

I agree with Carol the way to keep it going is to take cuttings and have spares.
I believe it has a genetic (inbuilt) problem that causes the spottiness .
Lots of theories to grow it in a shaded position.. but I gave up on it years ago.
It doesn't seem to like the summer heat here. To have one going for 16 years is remarkable.
I have done a few crosses with it and most of those developed spots too.
It has been used a lot in hybridising as it is a very old one and some of it's hybrids do get spotty, some don't.
Here's one that I'm sure is a hybrid of German empress. It got very spotty and died on me ages ago. It's one I've not seen these days. Extra small.

Gee, maybe if I don't neglect it I can get it to bloom again! What a concept!
