Thread OP

I have a passio fruit on its second year and noticed the leaves having holes almost like they are being eaten.

I found a few ants and even a beetle on the stem of the plant,

Anyone know how to can get these bugs out so that they stop can stop eating my passion fruit, can't wait for it to start producing fruit!!

Passionvines are hosts to some butterflies, so what you see may be holes made by butterfly caterpillars. Check the backs of the leaves carefully. You don't want to go spraying willy nilly before you know for sure what's doing the damage.

They are vigorous enough plants that a few holes in the leaves won't slow them down much, it just doesn't look quite as nice.

Ants very rarely eat plants, except some leaf-cutter ants that live in Mexico. They are usually there for another reason, like eating the honeydew excreted by some other bugs. I can't comment on the beetle without a picture.

Please post some pictures of your vine, the holes in the leaves, and the beetles if you can.

Also it's very helpful if you could put your location into your personal profile, so that we know where you are. Your weather conditions and location can help determine what kind of pests, or other insects you might have.

I suspect fritillary butterfly caterpillars are munching on your plant.
