Hi there...someone who knows very little about gardening here. I'm wondering if you can estimate the age of a palm tree just by looking at it. For example, by how tall it is, etc.

Well first of all you cant get an accurate age by the number of rings of a tree in some cases and maybe most cases.Trees grow more some years and less other yrs depending on rain and other factors. But with that in mind I do think you can guesstimate there age many times.Palm trees are no different because of many factors it is hard to guess an exact age. If all the factors are optimal you can guess the age pretty well on many palms just by there overall height. Some palms grow 1 inch a year and others 3 feet or more so if we narrow it down to a particular palm its easier to guesstimate.
Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my question. Sorry I don't have time to log in much or I would have replied sooner. I'll have to find out what kind of palms. We are buying a property that has 3 very tall ones and I'm curious about their age. Thanks again for your time.
