Don't squat with yer spurs on!

People try to turn back their "odometers." Not me. I want people to know 'why' I look this way. I've traveled a long way and some of the roads weren't paved

Ha! Before NASA existed, before malls became popular, before HFCS came along. We had milk delivered to our house when I was young, parents could pay for gas with loose change and they'd put in gas for you, clean your car window and check your oil, stores and gas stations gave those savings stamps, girls didn't wear pants, when childish pranks were just childish, when people didn't have internet or cell phones...that was my childhood

And mine, Linda (except that we didn't have saving stamps and I loved to wear jeans!) - I was born in 1950.

1947 here. My first pair of pants were after high school, although many girls had them earlier...they just couldn't wear them to school. During high school, school integration was started and the assassination happened.

1943 here. I still have never worn pants. I tried on a pair once and didn't like how they looked on me (I'm too short), so I never tried them again.

I remember saving the stamps I was given at gas stations, but I got rid of my last car in 1982, so I never had to pump my own gas. I have no cell phone, and I still get milk (and other groceries) delivered to my house.

You are lucky: all schoolchildren have to wear uniforms here. During my prep. years, every private school had a different colour (St. Margaret's, British school for girls, wore red jacket and beret, light grey skirt and white blouse, Deutsche Schule (the one I attended) had burgundy jackets for boys and girls and us girls had to wear deeply pleaded light grey skirts / boys, trousers - public schools wore all blue uniforms). When I started high school, the government decided there should not be any distinction and all schoolchildren would have to wear blue, but private schools kept each their own blue 'models'.

Nobody from my very small family had traveled to the USA at that time, so I did not own GENUINE USA made jeans until I was app. 23 years old (gosh was I proud!) and was able to pay a lot of money for them! I still think they are great, but no longer wear them (a matter of size *Blush* )

1948 -- and much to my mother's distress, insisted on wearing jeans when I was quite young... my parents had a son that died before I was born, so I think my dad must have won out on kind of letting me be a substitute for the son that he wanted -- I was definitely a tomboy, not helped by the fact that our neighborhood was filled with more boys than girls. He also encouraged my interest in math and science, for which I am eternally grateful. But girls wearing pants to school was strictly forbidden... and even when I went to college in 1968 it wasn't really accepted. I was in the marching band in high school and we girls thought we were quite daring because after our regular classes we would change to shorts in the restroom for band practice! LOL -- how times have changed!! And, like Ronnie, I have never lost my love of wearing jeans! (even if they don't look quite as good on me at this point... Whistling )
