Thread OP

I have some people robe in a pot. Last night it looked healthy but this morning it has grown a cap. Is there a way to save this plant? Should it be removed to protect the other plants in the pot? Is this normal and I'm fretting over nothing.
It has been very hot and humid where I live (twin cities Minnesota) so I'm guessing it's a fungi but don't know what to do about it. .

Welcome to NGA @LadyskullfangVonWint

It is indeed a fungus. They thrive in hot wet weather. Put on a pair of gloves, and gently remove the fruiting body (mushroom). You can apply a fungicide to the soil, or just dust it well with cinnamon (yup..the stuff you make toast with) The actual fungus is in the soil, but the spores are airborne so the best way to handle them is with a fungicide if they become invasive.

Allow the soil to dry out some between waterings. (water when the top couple inches are becoming dry)

Thank you MoonHowl!

Now, to see if I can get a specific identification of the fungi (for fun!).

You are most welcome.

Be careful not to break it up as you remove it. This link is to the fungi forum and a whole list of ID sites. Hope that helps.
